24 Hour Blogathon : Neue York - New Waves

Schools have a lot to answer for don’t they? For here is another band that have failed abysmally when it comes to spelling; you would have thought that either their English teacher or even their geography teacher would have pulled them up on their basic mistake wouldn’t you? We blame the I.T teacher. There he is standing at the back of the room, with an evil sneer across his face as he spits out the words “search engine optimisation kids, that’s what it’s all about these days.”

And what would the music teacher make of all this? Well we imagine they’d be pretty pleased with Neue York.  After all there aren’t many bands who manage to mix solemn keyboards with mournful Salvation Army styled horns and make them work in such a modern way.

Neue York will inevitably be compared to London Grammar in these early days, they have the same mellow and graceful sophistication even if lead singer Jane Young’s vocal isn't quite the showstopper that Hannah Reid’s is (that's not to say that her voice isn't still rather affecting). Listen to the serene Older below.
